DEIB

DEIB means "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging." It is a more recent evolution of the DEI framework, incorporating "Belonging" to emphasize the importance of creating environments where everyone feels not just included but deeply accepted and valued. While DEI principles have been progressively adopted and developed from the latter half of the 20th century into the 21st century, the explicit inclusion of "Belonging" in this terminology reflects a more nuanced understanding of what it means to create truly inclusive communities and workplaces. This addition aims to address the psychological and emotional aspects of inclusion, ensuring that individuals not only have representation and access to equal opportunities but also feel an integral sense of connection and engagement with their peers and the broader organization or community.
