Numbers in Text Speak

The use of numbers and symbols is a huge part of text speak. Type a number into the search box. You'll see there are literally hundreds of entries!

In some cases, numbers simply take the place of the letters they look like (e.g., the number 4 is often used to replace the letter A). However, that is only a small part of the story. Numbers are also used in lots of imaginative ways.

Numbers are frequently used to improve brevity and message tone, but, sometimes, they are used just for fun.
