What Does ICE Mean in a Text?

Internal Combustion Engine

ICE is an acronym for "Internal Combustion Engine." In this context, an ICE is the type of engine used to power most non-electric power-generating devices, including vehicles. An ICE works through igniting and combusting (burning) the fuel (usually gasoline or diesel) within the engine itself. The engine then partially converts the energy from the combustion to drive pistons which, in turn, drive the device.
