In gaming, experience points (EXPs) are gained in RPGs (Role Playing Games) as characters progress through the game and complete missions or achieve objectives. The accumulation of EXPs may permit a character to acquire new abilities or improve existing ones, such as strength, magic, health and skills. EXPs may also give a character access to more areas or items. For example:

• Neil: How many EXPs do you need to be able to get to the next level?
• Jane: I don't know, but you get a bonus EXP if you make it through the labyrinth.
