USSC

The USSC is the highest judicial body in the US, established in 1789 by the Constitution. It consists of nine justices, including one Chief Justice and eight Associate Justices, appointed for life by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The Court sits at the Supreme Court Building in Washington DC. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all federal and state cases involving constitutional or federal law, and it serves as the final interpreter of the Constitution. Many of the court's decisions have profoundly shaped American society. Its rulings should ensure the balance of power and protect individual rights. However, although it is meant to be neutral, some worry it has recently become politically biased.
