MICROSHIP

"Microship" is a playful Gen-Z blend of "micro" and "relationship." It describes a very short but intense romantic or emotional connection — usually lasting only a few days or weeks. In some ways, microships are similar to nanoships: they're often formed through dating apps or social media but tend to have a little more depth and usually include a few real dates.

Because the intimacy accelerates so quickly, couples in a microship often start trauma-dumping or sharing their deepest secrets early on. This oversharing of "TMI" usually leads to the relationship's downfall — perhaps leaving one person missing their "TOTGA," while the other moves on without a second thought.

As it is formed by merging two terms into one, microship is a portmanteau word. It is a combination of the words micro ("very small") and relationship. Portmanteaus are efficient and catchy. They're a type of linguistic efficiency that could have been made for internet culture (though they weren't).
