What Does OnlyFans Mean?

OnlyFans (often abbreviated as OF) is an adults-only subscription-based social media website (no app) which allows artists and content creators to post content and receive payment directly from fans.

Launched in 2016, by Fenix International Limited, London, England, the site claims to be inclusive of artists and content creators from all genres and to provide an alternative revenue stream for social media influencers, including chefs, artists, models, and personal trainers. However, it is best known for allowing adult actors (both amateur and professional) and sex workers to receive payment for posting pornographic content.

In April 2020, OnlyFans experienced a huge jump in popularity after Beyoncé referenced the site in the remix of Megan Thee Stallion's song "Savage." By July 2021, the site's owners claimed to have over 100,000,000 registered users and to pay out more than $3,000,000,000 per year to over 1,000,000 content creators.

The site is popular with the gay community but, according to Hubite.com which indexes OnlyFans content, over 97% of creators are women and over 76% of fans are male.
